While I've increased my like/dislike ratio of him to about 65/35, my friend Katie has been obsessed with Bobby since day one. When she told me he was coming to Madison, Wisconsin I told her we should go, not necessarily because I wanted to, but because I knew she would be mad at herself if we didn't. We procrastinated until the very last minute, but decided we should make the 3 hour drive up to Madison for the show.
And now, after the show, I'm at about 90/10. Bobby & Eddie were funny, classy, and super nice guys. Eddie remembered where we were standing during the show, and came up and thanked us again for coming because he had remembered we told them that we drove from Iowa. Then Bobby came out and they let us take a picture, even though Justin "the suit" was telling them it was time to go. (I'll also point out here that The Bobby Bones show is winning the ACM award for national on-air personalities. Kind of a big deal.)
None of our friends really listen to Bobby much, so explaining his "music" was complicated. The best we could come up with was that they sing parodies of country songs and are funny, but that they aren't the greatest singers. That description didn't really impress anyone.
After the show we went upstairs and got pictures taken by the radio station with Bobby & Eddie, as well as Maggie Rose, who opened for them. Maggie Rose is an AWESOME singer. I hope she breaks through in country music! Katie had to take a few deep breaths and collect herself.
After she collected herself, we took a picture with the Bobby Bones banner. How dorky is that? But, we wanted a good picture just in case the radio station's picture didn't turn out. Then we went to the bar, got a couple glasses of water and decided we should go upstairs. Partially because we're such creepers. We just didn't want to miss an opportunity. And boy, we GOT our opportunity.
During the meet & greet, we explained that we had come all the way from Iowa to be there. The guys remembered that and came over to thank us again. I'm so grateful they took a picture with us! This picture will be framed, hung up, and potentially created into a puzzle or mug, or both.
And, despite the fact that we played it SO COOL while meeting the guys, we were a total mess afterwards. I think the joy on our faces here is evident! We definitely lost a couple hours of sleep reliving the moments.
Definitely a trip worth the drive, even through a snowstorm on the way home! Thank you Bobby & Eddie!
I'm from North Liberty, IA and thought about heading up there! So glad that KKSY Kiss Country airs his show.
ReplyDeleteHappy for ya!
Tell KISS to bring him here! I sent them a message too. We asked Bobby and he said it's all up to the local channels. Maybe if we send lots of messages, they'll do it!
