Super Hawaiian Pizza

Alright, this gets a little crazy. Stick with me, I promise it's delicious. My granny always said that the more colorful your food is, the better and healthier it is. Well, kids, this is colorful.

First--I use a store-bought crust. The Archer Farms brand at Target makes this fire-roasted square crust that has a yummy flavor. And it's square. which is cool. Now, the sauce is combined with a little olive oil and some of the juice from a can of pineapple chunks and a can of mandarin oranges. Don't snack on all the fruit--you're going to need it. I also sprinkle on some crushed red pepper and some oregano.

Now things go nuts. I used ham on this one, but I'd use Canadian bacon if it weren't so expensive. Cost of living is higher in Canada, I guess. Anyways, I hope you didn't eat all that fruit--you need it now. I cut the pineapple chunks into thirds and spread them out, as well as some mandarin oranges. (I eat the rest of the oranges--those things are one of my top 5 favorite things in the world.) After the fruit, I add on the veggies. I always use green olives, but tonight I added green peppers and red onion. If you know me, you know I'm a firm believer in adding green peppers and red onions to everything. Or just eating them plain. I currently have 4 green peppers and 2 red onions in my fridge, if that tells you anything.

Then, the cheese. I used some mozzarella, and an Italian blend.

Seriously, this thing is good.

Obviously, you can omit or substitute whatever you want--it's pizza after all. But the oranges...? Trust me about the oranges.

10 Days

Ten days without posting should tell you something about the craziness of my life.

School is very busy right now, as we're starting a huge new project. I explain it a little bit over at my school blog.

Then there's volleyball. We started the season with 4 home games in a row, and now we have 3 games on the road. Two down last week, including a long trip to Wheatland. We've only got 4 regular seasons games left--the season is going fast! Then it'll be on to middle school basketball...

Robotics isn't quite as busy as last year, because there aren't any organized scrimmages. Which means instead of 8 weekends, it'll be 4 or 5. Which means, that I'm sitting at home on a Saturday afternoon, wishing I was watching Cyclone football, but since they played on Thursday last week, and Thursday the next week, I won't get to watch them for awhile. At least they won this week...maybe I should stop watching all together if they're going to win! So here I sit watching the Hawkeyes...

Anyways, here are some pictures from the last ten days...

We started Lego League robotics, which is super fun. We've got 24 kids--half meet before school, have after on Tuesdays. Which means I get to work about 15 hours on Tuesdays...and Thursdays, I guess. But playing robots is worth it!

Went to the new public library again and checked out some books. Also browsed their cute display of banned books--they're locked, get it?

I love cutting melon probably more than I love eating it.

What post would complete without a picture of this handsome fella?

Went on a walk the other night down along the river at Ellis park. Very pretty & relaxing.

Did some line dancing last Saturday night while watching elderly people sing karaoke.

This is why I never have guests over...

It was buy-two-get-one-free on cookie dough on Wednesday night. A perfect little midweek treat.

This week was also homecoming week. Here is a blurry picture of our homecoming court.

My Saturday meals--french toast for breakfast with what was left of my mini loaf of wheat bread and english muffin pizzas. If I stay awake until dinner tonight, I'm thinking a big bowl of popcorn will be just lovely.

Super hero day staff. I am a super librarian--you can't see my cape!

Twin day!

Neon day. I had my pink tights and blue shorts on, but I had to change for an early volleyball practice. We also had Hawaiian day, but I left early on Hawaiian day so I didn't get to be in the picture.

And here's our staff on spirit day! We are a good looking bunch.

The Sky, & Food, & My Kitten

Katie & I have been trying to keep up with our walking, and we love the scenery we always find. Sunday night we found a couple of different places that have sunflowers by their mailboxes. I snuck up and snapped a few pictures of this one even though the lady of the house was sitting near the window. The dog started barking, but the lady didn't even flinch. Whew.

I bought some dark chocolate peanut butter that I've been eating on apples, and soon I'm gonna test it out on strawberries. This stuff is awesome.

Tried to adjust the sunflower pic because it was dark outside.

There was a pretty hot air balloon floating through my neighborhood Monday night. I'd like to up in one at some point in my life.

Lindsay & Delaney were co-conspirators in giving me this to pump me up on Tuesday afternoon. Tuesday was a long day. So was Monday.

Poor Pacino has been spending lots of time home by himself. He always comes up with ways to stay entertained, whether good or bad. I picked all of my cherry tomatoes that were starting to ripen the other day, and set them on my counter. It took him a couple of days, but he got to them. When I got home tonight there were 3 out of about 7 left on the counter. The rest were scattered around the floor. I'm still missing one. This one, he had under the couch and luckily I noticed. Geesh.

Crafts & Food

I made BLT dip and this pimento dip last night to take to our Iowa/Iowa State game watching party. The game was a bust (for me) but the snacks were delicious.

It was very hard to get out of bed this morning with this guy on my belly.

Try to ignore my wind-blown hair, but I broke down and wore a hoodie today. I got this one in AC, obviously, for $15. Soooo comfy.

I've been spending my life savings at Michael's lately. I'm going to hang this letter inside the wreath and hang it somewhere...not quite sure where.

Can you tell what these letters are going to spell? Bought these at Hobby Lobby a couple of weeks ago and finally got around to painting them--picked a perfect off-white color.

I also bought a canvas that's too big to take a picture of. It's 3x4 feet. I got it for 75% off today at Michael's. It's going to take me awhile to get brave enough to paint it, though.

Bugs & Cyclones

Busy, busy week....again.

We sat outside for lunch yesterday, and a bee landed on me. The red mark on the upper left is from him. The other two, I'm not quite sure who left those. There is also one on the bottom of my foot....they itch like crazy!

It was Cy-Hawk day at work, so I showed off my Cyclone colors. Love the new Iowa State scarf I found at Target over the summer.

The Weekend Recap

Kind of a slow weekend, which was nice. When I wasn't doing what these pictures show, I was parked on my couch reading or in bed. Last week zapped the energy right out of me.

My first Friday night football game of the year. Wildcats lost, 48-44 though.

Saturday we learned the new robotics challenge for this year! (I'll post a video when I'm on my computer--iPad doesn't do that as well.) Saturday night we went to the movie The Conjuring. Basically had all the elements of every other scary movie ever: clocks that stop, stairs, wind chimes, a pond, a dead dog and creepy birds.

Sunday we went to the brand new public library here in CR. We wandered all around, except up to the roof--we saved that for next time. There are treadmills with computer stations, a reading terrace, several fireplaces, tons of cool furniture, and according to their Twitter feed, around 250,000 new materials. We sniffed a few books and cracked their spines. Everything is just so new. It is glorious.

Mondays lunch: jam & peaches from my mom and dad, and a fresh pear from a friends neighbor. That pear was delish.

The End.

Welp, we've had the last day at the pool, Labor Day, and now, the official end of summer: baseball is over. The Kernel's had a stellar season, but they lost a playoff game last night, so Miller & I went tonight, and they lost. Season over. We also almost got taken out by TWO foul balls. Luckily, there were no injuries. And...the concession stand guy only gave me a small popcorn when I asked for a large.

We had great seats behind home plate, though!

I got back into my scrapbooking habit the other day. I cranked out the rest of the "easy" pages.

Sellers & I went for tea & cookie dough at Coffeesmith's Monday night. But, it turned into decaf coffee and no cookie dough. Check out our owl stickers--mine has glasses & her's doesn't. How appropriate.

I was tweeting about a book in our library that a parent was upset about because of content. The author happened to see it and send us this autographed copy! Sweet!

5 Day Weekend

Whew. What a weekend. I headed back to Colo on Thursday night, and spent Friday visiting family & shopping...and eating, who are we kidding?

My cousin Lisa was back in town from North Carolina, so we got together at my grandma's for Alley's pizza and dessert.

Speaking of dessert, I made these very tasty scotcheroos. And I didn't even scorch the frosting. I also did 1.5 times the frosting recipe, because that's the best part. Extra butterscotch chips are the best.

Isn't he the handsomest cat you've ever seen?

We had a volleyball tournament on Saturday morning. We went 1-2 and played some good competition. Saturday night was my friend Dixie's bachelorette party. It was good fun!

Lindsay & I.

Plus Katie Clime.

Me & the bride-to-be!

Sellers and I. Or, according to our wrestling diva names (the theme of the night), Queenie Curvaceous & Sunshine Phoenix. Thank the online name generator!

Sunday afternoon found me at the pool, where I was so busy going down all the slides and jumping off the diving board that I didn't take a single picture. (My right ear is still full of water.)

I'm still scared of car washes.

We went to Fieldhouse to eat pizza awhile after the pool, but we were so tired, we ate our appetizer, one piece of pizza and had to quit. I was so tired that I went to bed at 9pm last night and slept until 5am, then went back to sleep until 7. And I'm still lacking energy!
