Big Salad

Excuse the Spanish subtitles, but you have to understand the Seinfeld episode to understand the title of this post.

Pretty sure the big salad I ate for dinner outdoes Elaine's! Delicious!

Boring Life

Despite the fact that I feel like I'm always 'busy' the past few days have been nice and quiet. There was no school Friday, but I did go up for part of the football game, and then we left early and went to a haunted house. Eek. Saturday I only left my house to go on a short run--I relaxed and cleaned the day away. Sunday I went up to school for a little while to get book fair taken down and to play some basketball. Then, we went on a walk, out to dinner and to Target.

Today, I managed to oversleep until 7:15, which pretty much set the tone for the day: behind.

Here are a couple of pictures from the last few days, but truly, my life has been pretty boring!

I just love this soup. It's Pioneer Woman's cheesy corn chowder, with extra bacon and some jalepeƱo white cheddar cheese. This is one of my favorite recipes!

I finished Allegiant, which is the third book in one of my favorite series ever. This is the quote I put on my quote of the day board school. (The quote of the day is much like this blog--usually, it gets changed every 4 days, or so.) I also had a nice hour long Twitter conversation with a student about the book on Saturday. I love that technology gives me access to kids, even when we aren't at school. My conversation with her was deeper than any of the conversations I've had with adults about it!

Speaking of connecting with people, I tweeted to Kristian Bush--guitarist for Sugarland--and he responded. I stopped everyone in the middle of class and showed off about it. I told them if it had been Jennifer Nettles replying that they would've needed to call the nurse. I'm still hoping for that, but not really counting on it.

Did most of my hanging out with this guy over the weekend--isn't he so handsome?!

Pacino is definitely more handsome than this guy. I wonder what the neighborhood folks think when we are laying in their yards and taking pictures of all the Halloween decorations? Who does things like this, anyway? We saw like, 5 different yards with "cemeteries," plus 3 giant inflatable spiders/ghosts/Frankensteins. I wish I had the money to do this, because if I did, I'd spend my money on much better things. Like food. Or coffee creamer. Or new boots. Or sweaters.

Whoops

Well, this blog is turning into more of a weekly review than a once every couple of days review! This week was probably the busiest week of my school year: the last few days of volleyball, the first week of middle school basketball, early morning and after school robotics, plus parent teacher conferences and book fair. Now, finally, a day off. (Well, I'm going in later to take down book fair and go to our football game, but it's as close to a day off as I get.)

Here are a few shots from this week:

Went out to celebrate a coworkers 50th birthday party last Saturday night. Iowa State played Baylor at the same time. My "lucky" socks obviously didn't work last time, so I tried a tank top. Clearly that didn't work either. Reverting back to my favorite hoodie for tomorrow's game. (Or maybe this is an excuse to buy new apparel?)

Sunday breakfast at Riley's after church is one of my favorite traditions. This was so good.

Monday brought chilly temps, and my car even said ICE instead of a temp!

Monday night, our dance team hosted a fundraiser at Orange Leaf. Eating frozen yogurt for a good cause--count me in!

I finally had to turn the heat on.

Tuesday, the third book in the Divergent book series came out. Me and one of the junior girls have been counting down, so I bought the ebook, put it on my iPads and lent her one of them. She's finished and isn't happy. I'm about halfway through and getting nervous!

Wednesday night found me at Pizza Ranch.

With three plates. Yikes!

Inadvertent Hiatus

Well, this is maybe a record for long I've gone without blogging. Last week was pretty crazy, and I was very sick throughout the whole week. Tonight is the first night I've had free in forever. So I cooked, am currently watching Criminal Minds, and am going to bed early.

Here's the recap of the last 2 weeks:

Yep, I touched a snake at the science center.

The food served at the conference via HyVee Hall was just fabulous.

It wouldn't be a trip to Des Moines without a stop at Johnny's for Monday Night Football, a few drinks, a couple games of pool and basketball. (AKA, spending all my money.)

Seriously, this food was so good.

Went to the wedding of this lovely couple on Saturday night. So much fun dancing zumba and playing with sparklers.

This always cracks me up. Except when I don't wanna get up and he's crying about it...I need to build a robot that will turn it on when he gets near.

Mom's homemade applesauce is delish.

My mama let me have this Pepsi...real sugar, in a glass bottle. Pretty sure she wished she had kept it for herself. This was the best drink I've had in a long, long time.

Mom and I finished our day together with cooking this meal. We are pretty dang hard to compete with in a kitchen, I'd say. Olive cheese bread from Pioneer Woman is simply one of the best things I've ever eaten. There must be olive cheese bread in heaven. The soup wasn't too bad either, though I would leave the taco seasoning out if I made it again.

Maxine is getting to be an old lady!

Ate taco potatoes to celebrate my grandpa's birthday. I'm pretty sure I'd never had this before, but I could eat this every day.

I put together a little gift for each of the girls on our volleyball team Friday night. I thought they turned out super cute--even though they weren't exactly what I wanted. I spray painted some wooden frames, added the stickers and the pictures, then wrote a card to each of the girls, and gave them 2 little notecards to write a message to another teammate about something fun from the season. Took me forever, but I like them. I want to make myself one for our team picture!

Pacino giving me the evil eye, wondering why I'm always taking his picture.

One of the volleyball girls brought me this cupcake the other week. That peanut butter frosting was divine.

Apples! Went to the orchard with my mama and bought some of these beauties.

I had 15 balloons in the backseat of my car for senior night. Talk about static hair!

The sky has been gorgeous lately. I don't get to see the sunset very often, but I love when I do.

I actually wore these shoes out in public last week.

Pretzel bites last Wednesday night after buying the stuff for the volleyball frames. Yummm.

Lucky socks. Not so lucky.

I sent Katie a message that I expected her to fold my toilet paper like they did in the hotel--she stopped in to take care of Pacino while I was in DSM. It's the thought that counts.
